I created my workshops to help students learn life skills that will prepare them for life after school, but while keeping it fun. Each workshop includes interactive exercises, group discussions and exploratory handouts that help each student connect with the concepts. If you work with a group of students or young adults who could benefit from learning important life skills then check out my group workshops below. More information on how to setup a workshop or the workshop curriculum is available upon request!
The Job of Getting a Job
It's almost inevitable that a student will need to get a job at some point in their life. Whether it's right away or in the near future, they'll be entering an already saturated and competitive job market. They'll need the simple skills necessary to give them a fighting chance. This 6-week workshop will help give them that chance. They'll learn
- How to choose jobs that will benefit their future careers, even if they're not sure what they want to do
- How to start preparing now to get them in the door later
- How to create a resume, even with little experience
- How to prepare for interviews and practice live mock interviews
- How to create a plan of action and the next steps they need to take
Finding the Career in You

Building a Resume
Most young adults will have never seen a resume before applying for their first job. Though the internet can be helpful, they'll eventually need to assess and promote their own qualifications. This workshop will help young adults do exactly that. Students will receive a resume template to complete throughout the workshop as we break down each part. Students will use handouts and participate in group discussions to aid in their self-exploration. In the end, they'll walk away with a completed resume tailored to their strengths. This 90-minute workshop covers:
- The purpose of a resume
- The different types of resumes
- Reviewing resume examples
- Identifying your skills and experience
- Brainstorming your employment history, education/training and volunteer/community work
- Summarizing your qualifications
